Would it not be better to have a small percentage of a MASSIVE market than 100% of no market? Even a small piece of a HUGE market can make you RICH
Take a look at Richard Branson. Was he deterred from entering the soft-drinks market with his Virgin brand by the more established competitors?
No
In fact, he even went into direct competition with one of the world’s largest corporations – Coca Cola, and still managed to make a huge amount of money. The same applies to his airline, mobile service provider, and fragrance retailing businesses. He wasn’t deterred by British Airways, Vodafone, or The Perfume Shop. He saw that these markets were so large, even if his brand couldn’t become market leader in any, he could still make a sizeable profit. Never be put-off from entering a market by the competition – especially online, where the playing
field is leveled between the big players and the smaller traders.

Find a problem solving product or service
Where many people go wrong is when they confuse a problem-solving product with a preventative one. It would be much easier to sell a book on how to ERASE debt, rather than one that shows you how to prevent getting into it.
People want to know how to lose weight, get in shape and improve their physique more so than they want to know how to prevent putting weight on in the first place. It’s so much easier to sell a car alarm to someone AFTER they have had their car broken into and valuables stolen.
Why? Because they feel vulnerable and want you to SOLVE that problem for them.
Put simply, people never think it’s going to happen to them and when it does, they need YOU to provide them with the SOLUTION, no matter what that might be. Once you have this, it’s time to promote it and . . .
MOTIVATE your customers to WANT TO BUY
People buy on emotional grounds before they begin to rationalise their purchase, so use this to your advantage. Use your web copy to communicate the benefits that your product offers. If you’re selling a fitness DVD, sell the prospect of a leaner, more toned physique and increased sex appeal – not the features of your DVD.
If you’re selling a book on how to pass your driving test, sell the feeling of freedom and independence that passing your test and driving your own car brings – sell the real emotional value and benefits of your product. Features can come later. In life, first impressions count. Online, first impressions are everything. Fail to grab the reader’s attention within the first few seconds, and you will lose them forever.
You must use AIDCA on your sales page – Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction, and Action. This process will guide the reader systematically through your sales copy in tandem with their emotional thought processes, thus resulting in them taking the desired action i.e. making a purchase from you. ‘Power words’ like free, now, cash, win, new, can all be used to good effect throughout your copy helping to inspire emotion in your reader and make them believe in your product. Online, your sales copy is your sales team, use it to good effect and you will reap the rewards.
So, to recap . . .
You need to find a HUGE, hungry niche market, get yourself the problem-solving products they desperately want, and motivate them to BUY NOW!
